I work primarily with adults (18 and older) living with acute, chronic, and terminal health conditions. I provide individual therapy mostly, but will invite partners/spouses and family members into the process when needed.

I also work with caregivers, health care providers, and people who would benefit from a therapy approach that focuses on health behavior change.

getting started

First, finish reading this page and then fill out the contact form on the Get Started page.

I’ll contact you as soon as possible to discuss logistical stuff (like scheduling, payment, insurance, etc) and whether I think I’m a good fit for you. We’ll schedule your first appointment. This appointment time will be held for you on a weekly basis.

You will arrive at your appointment at your scheduled time (either virtually or at my Gig Harbor office). I will greet you in the waiting room at the start of your session. Your appointment lasts 50-55 minutes. You'll be invited to talk about your situation, I'll provide information about my approach, and I'll answer any questions you may have. Near the end of the appointment, we will discuss next steps, which may include a referral, intake paperwork, scheduling, and frequency of sessions, etc. You'll pay for the session and be on your way.

Please bring payment for your first session (cash in the exact amount, check, or credit card). A credit or debit card is securely kept on file for follow-up sessions and fees are collected using an auto-pay system. HSA/FSA cards are accepted.

Your next appointment will likely be a week later. Follow-up sessions are 50-55 minutes. We will check-in on your week, note progress and setbacks, and then focus in on a particular problem or goal. While I initially provide some structure to our sessions, you are expected to take an active role by arriving to your appointments with a particular problem or goal in mind.


My office is located at 5224 Olympic Drive NW Suite 101 Gig Harbor, WA 98335. There is free parking and handicap accessibility in the parking lot and throughout the building.



My therapy style isn't meant to be a long-term treatment approach. It is designed to teach you strategies to employ on a long-term basis. With that said, therapy does not have a set time length because people learn at different paces and some have more to learn than others.


If you cannot make it to the office, sessions can be conducted through a secure video platform. This is a great option when you’re not feeling well enough to travel or when life gets in the way. Video sessions can be used intermittently or as our primary method of connecting.

I offer standard per-session rates and package rates.

Package Rates:

  • 3-month commitment $1,764 (or $672 when paid monthly)

  • 6-month commitment $2,880 (or $566 when paid monthly)

The 3-month package allows for up to 12 appointments during the three months. The 6-month package allows for 24 appointments during the six months. You can schedule them anytime using the online scheduler. Sessions are 50-55 minutes.

An intake session is required before purchasing a prepaid package. The intake is a clinical assessment that helps us determine if we’re a good fit for each other and gives me the information needed to assist you in choosing an appropriate number of sessions to get started.

Standard Rates:

  • 50-55 minute sessions are $200            

  • 75-minute sessions are $250


I am a network provider with First Choice and Cigna. I am not an eligible provider for Medicare.

I am gradually moving away from insurance contracts because insurance requires that I give you a mental health diagnosis, set arbitrary limits on session time and frequency, and require that your concerns require “medical necessity” for coverage. Within the context of our work together, this is rarely beneficial.

I do understand that using insurance is sometimes a necessity. I am happy to refer you to other therapists who take your insurance or you can use your out-of-network benefits if you have them.

Insurance companies don’t cover phone sessions (but Cigna and First Choice do cover video sessions).

If knowing what your insurance will cover impacts whether you’d pursue therapy with me, please call your insurance company before contacting me to learn about your mental health benefits. 

not-your-usual cancellation policy

As someone with a chronic illness myself, I understand the need for flexibility, especially when it comes to juggling appointments. For that reason, I have created a unique cancellation policy.

If you must cancel, no advanced notice is required (yep, you can cancel at the very last minute).

If you have purchased a package plan, you can make up the session anytime during your 3 or 6-month time frame, depending on which package you purchased, but you don’t need to.

If you pay a per-session/standard rate (or are using insurance), fees will be waived for two cancellations per year. After that, all cancelled appointments must be rescheduled during the week before, during, or after your absence or you will be charged the full fee.

You have full access to an online scheduling system to move your appointments around whenever you’d like. In addition, video and phone sessions are available if you can’t make it to the office.


I will not be in the office on the following days in 2019:

Tuesday January 1st; Monday May 27th; Thursday July 4th; Friday July 5th; Monday September 2nd; Monday October 14th; Monday November 11th; Thursday November 28th; Friday November 29th; December 24th-31st. You will receive at least two-week’s notice for any other Therapist absences.

If you are scheduled on one of these days, you can reschedule your appointment in the patient portal but you are not required to.
